ELI5: How exactly does CleverBot work : explainlikeimfive

Probably it learns responses in all languages that people talk to it. Cleverbot doesn’t have a great grasp of the emotional context that is necessary to understand human communication. It will usually take everything you say literally. Because of this, Cleverbot isn’t too “clever” when it comes to emotional questions and outbursts.
The algorithm it uses pairs question-response sentences together and uses them for the appearance of talking to a person. The end goal for any AI that focuses on producing a conversation effect is to make it so that the human interrogator can not differentiate between speaking to a program or another human being. You can view it’s current calculated Turing test score on the main page. NOT AT ALL. It is, as someone else here said, a chat server that continuously switches you to talk with different people. Therefore, sometimes its answers doesn’t make sense, because what you’re seeing is someone’s response to someone they were previously talking with on the server. It switches you to a different chat server if you type in another language like French, so you talk with various people on the French server, for example.
Responses
Like a human learning appropriate behavior by studying the actions of members of his or her social group, Cleverbot “learns” from these conversations. It stores them all in a huge database, and in every future conversation, its responses to questions and comments mimic past human responses to those same questions and comments. At any given time, there are quite a few people typing into cleverbot. Cleverbot just randomly connects people to other people, each thinking the other is cleverbot. However, it changes these connections up every two or three sentences, so continuity is disrupted quite frequently.
- Despite all of Cleverbot’s odd words, non-sequiturs, and ridiculous ravings, it is found that people keep wanting to keep conversing with him.
- Follow the “cleverness” tab to see some pretty outstanding Cleverbot witticisms.
- AI Engine answers any question or request in mere seconds, compare that to minutes or even hours of your current support.
- Through the first hour, I could swear I was really talking to a person.
- First, I was able to grab a little over 30,000 actual conversations with CleverBot.
- As long as you respond with a noun, or a transitive sentence using the verb eat, and involving a noun, the sentence makes sense to the chatbot, even if it’s absurd to us.
As far as it knows it’s just another question with a stored answer. If the answer was not found, respond “I don’t know” or a similar deflection. It’s actually quite fun to play with that in mind, even if it’s not accurate. Either I’m in for some shattering revelations about my own existence or it’s pulling from other users’ answers.

The way AI works right now is typically self-contextual within a certain limit. That is to say, AI only talks and responds within the context of the previous thing said to it—it can not extrapolate answers the way humans can. Your customers are being addressed in real time, AI Engine answers their questions and helps them with anything they need through a chat conversation. You might think that, because it’s a computer program, Cleverbot would be able to do math problems almost instantly.
can anybody tell me how cleverbot works? and why is somone talking to me ?! ctfu.

You give your algorithm a lot of sample data to learn from, and it can generate text that sounds just like the sample you gave it. Present Cleverbot with a logical paradox. A paradox is a statement, question, or idea that has an answer that can’t be logically found. Since some of history’s greatest thinkers have struggled to untangle logical paradoxes, it’s a very safe bet that Cleverbot will be completely perplexed by most of them. In addition, Cleverbot doesn’t even do well talking about subjects that have the potential to be paradoxical, like time travel.
Responses to “I think I know how cleverbot works.”
For instance, if you ask it to join you in a game of chess or checkers, it’ll say “OK”, but then if you say, “You go first,” you’ll get a nonsensical response. how cleverbot works Try it — say “Let’s play rock paper scissors” and then say either “Rock”, “Paper”, or “Scissors”. Spit out one of the unanswered questions from the database.
okayy. i take back what i’ve said. i have no idea how Simsimi works. kinabog niya na yata si Cleverbot.

To call it “intelligence” of any kind, artificial or otherwise, is completely false advertising. It has a database of sentences from previous chat´s and only link them together. If it was switching between different people there wouldn’t be the same repeating answers like this.

It might seem like something very simple, but it’s in fact a very complex process that happens in our heads. Keep your conversation going for a long time. The longer you follow a certain line of questioning, the more likely Cleverbot is to “crack”. This can lead to some pretty bizarre conversations, especially if Cleverbot misunderstands something you type. You may want to try using the “Think For Me!” button on Cleverbot.com for this. This button makes Cleverbot think up a response to its own message for you.
Try noticing this in your day-to-day conversations. Whenever you’re talking with somebody, see if the things you say actually relate to the previous thing said. I’ll bet that a lot of the times, they take some extra inference to truly have a natural conversation.
