The bff is the federal association of rape crisis centres and women’s counselling centres in Germany. The bff incorporates more than 210 rape crisis centres and women’s counselling centres. In Germany, they constitute the majority of mobile counselling and support facilities for  female victims of violence. They denounce violence against women and girls through public relations and actions. As an umbrella organisation, they exert significant influence on political decisions. The bff conducts seminars and conferences, disseminates expertise from practice and  research and develops information material on the issue of violence against women.

Active Against Digital Violence

Digital violence is a collective term for various forms of  gender-specific violence. It refers to acts of violence that make use of technical aids and digital media (cell phones, apps, Internet  applications, mails, etc.) and violence that takes place in digital  space, e.g. on online portals or social platforms. We assume that  digital violence does not function separately from “analog violence”,  but is usually a continuation or supplement of violent relationships and  dynamics.“ – bff

In their project “Active against digital violence”, the bff campaigns against gender-based digital violence. For several years, bff and its members have been working on the topic of digital gender-based violence. On their project website you can find more information about the different forms of digital violence, such as cyber-stalking, image-based sexualized violence, cyber-bullying, identity theft, doxing, hate speech, sexual harassment, as well as extensive information about cyber-security and online safety.
